Principal, Valley View

Ms. Karin Kidd is the Principal and Curriculum Coordinator of Valley View Middle School. She also serves the district as the District Testing Coordinator, District School Safety Specialist, District Multilingual Learner Program Coordinator, District Affirmative Action Officer, Title IX Coordinator, and Director of Gifted and Talented. Ms. Kidd joined the Watchung Borough School District in January 2020.

Throughout her career in education, Ms. Kidd has served in a variety of roles, including curriculum supervisor, middle school assistant principal,high school teacher, special education teacher, middle school teacher, elementary school teacher, and club advisor. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Special Education with a minor in English from the University of Delaware, a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Missouri, and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Scranton.

As an educational leader, Ms. Kidd is deeply committed to supporting students and staff while fostering a culture of belonging within the school community. She works to implement developmentally responsive practices and cultivate collaborative, student-centered learning environments where every student feels seen and heard. She is dedicated to promoting both academic excellence and perseverance, encouraging students to challenge themselves, grow from setbacks, and take pride in their learning. Ms. Kidd is particularly passionate about the middle school years and the opportunity to support students as they develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning. Her goal is to serve as a visible, approachable leader who builds strong partnerships with staff, students, families, and the broader community to promote a positive, supportive school climate.

Outside of school, Ms. Kidd is the proud mom of two adult daughters, two dogs, and one precocious cat. 🐶🐶🐱

As a friendly reminder, we ask for your continued partnership in reinforcing our school expectations regarding cell phones and other electronic communication devices, including smartwatches.

During the school day, all cell phones and electronic communication devices must be powered off and kept away in lockers or bags. These devices should not be visible or used during instructional time, transitions, or lunch.

Earlier this year, your child took the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT). This test consists of three batteries:  verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal.  The results for your child are reported in a Profile Narrative in the Genesis Parent Portal under Documents.
